The cold tells you before the door does. Daylight showing around the edge when it is shut, frost on the inside face in January, a slider that jumps its track or takes two hands to move, fog trapped between the glass panes, a soft or spongy floor at the threshold, and a latch that no longer catches without a shove all mean the door is past adjustment.
Five steps, and the opening is closed up the same day. We measure at a free in-home consultation and send a written estimate, then the door is ordered to size. The old door and frame come out and a waterproof tray goes down before the new one is set square and packed tight. Last of all the frame is foamed and trimmed and the hardware goes on. Window replacement is often scheduled for the same visit.
