It suits the metro's newer neighborhoods especially well. Homes from the 1990s and 2000s in West Bloomington, Savage, and Lakeville with builder-grade siding that is fading or cracking, owners who want the look of painted wood without the upkeep of cedar, open lots that take a hailstorm head-on, and tall two-story walls where a lighter board is easier to hang all fit. The trade-off is that primed product needs paint and a repaint down the road.

Seven steps, with LP's own rules added to the usual re-side. Board style and finish are chosen at the first visit, then the estimate is written and the permit pulled. The old siding comes off and rotten boards are replaced. After the city inspects that layer, the boards go up with the small gap LP calls for at every joint, sealant in each gap, and every cut end sealed before the board is hung. Finish first, then the house. Primed boards painted on site cost less than ExpertFinish boards that arrive prefinished, and from there square footage, stories, shake or panel accents, matching trim, stripping the old siding, and rot found underneath set the number. It generally lands between vinyl and James Hardie fiber cement on price.

LP publishes a fifty-year limited warranty on the board itself, with the first five years covering labor and material in full and the remainder prorated on the material alone. The prefinished ExpertFinish line adds a fifteen-year finish warranty, and LP's warranty includes a hail provision for stones up to one and three-quarter inches, subject to proper installation and maintenance. Those are LP's terms, and we install the way that keeps them valid.

Most houses are done in about a week. The sixteen-foot boards go up faster than shorter ones and cut with ordinary wood tools, so a two-story home rarely runs past two weeks. Primed boards need their topcoat within LP's window after installation, which we schedule with the painter.
